FASHION FOCUS: TOUCH OF STRIPE
In today's outfit, it consists of this beautiful wine wrap dress paired with a simple but chic stripe blazer. In my honest opinion, everyone should have their very own pair of stripe blazer, or any type of printed blazer for that matter. It not only completes your look but it adds more depth to your entire ensemble.
This season, don't be afraid to wear your colors and prints out as often as you would like because "trends" are just merely a fashion guide, it's not meant to be followed entirely. As cliche as it sounds, some fashion rules are just meant to be broken. You don't have to settle for  dull and boring colors this season just because it's cold. Mix your prints, add a splash of color to your outfit and over accessorize if you want to. Trends for the season might dictate the fashion world, but only yourself could dictate your own personal style ;)

For tonight's look I decided to wear this beautiful abstract floral maxi skirt along with a denim "bustier" like top and just singeing the waist with a thrifted vintage elastic waist belt. I also brought along with me this awesome crocheted & lace cardigan, perfect for the night time as it is starting to get a little bit chilly nowadays. Overall, like always I decided to go for a look that combines both comfort, sensibility and style. hehe!

Myself along with the incredibly tall, beautiful, and fashionable, Uduak Oduok.--Former fashion model, Current editor of Ladybrille & Fashion/ Entertainment lawyer
(Now mind you, I am about 5'2 without heels and tonight I was wearing heels that are about 4 inches, which makes me roughly about 5'6ft. and yet she still towers over me by well, A LOT! hehe!)

I was incredibly humbled yet again to meet such amazing, genuine and successful people in the fashion industry. Tonight's event was my 3rd time and yet every time, I was completely blown away by the passion and how hard these people work on their own trade. I am beyond impressed on how they were able to build up their own brand and still able to keep their feet grounded.

Some of my favorite words from tonight's event:

"Fashion is about change" --Susan Ashbrook
"Education is something no one could take away from you." --Billy Ola Hutchinson
"Be humble and give the dignity that others deserve." --Michael Palladino
"Believe in yourself. Know yourself. No one should love you more than you do and no one should market yourself more than you do." --Uduak Oduok

FASHION FOCUS: HIGH-LOW HEM
Dresses, particularly maxi dresses with a high-low hem are a huge hit this season as well as previous seasons  because of its versatility. This dress that I'm wearing from LOVE is made of a very light chiffon-like fabric that makes it weather appropriate at the same time you could either dress it up or down depending on your mood or occasion. --From being beach chic to a nice sophisticated girls night out in the city chic. Either way, this dress will turn a few heads..like the saying, "business in the front, party in the back"...just the other way around for this one.
So, in this outfit, I decided to go for a semi-casual / semi- glamorous look. I tried making the outfit less outlandish by throwing on a long thin cardigan with subtle neon accents to take away some of the "formal" feel to the look. I also paired some nice black booties with cheetah prints on the heel to make the look more fun and casual. Then I decided to wear some sheer black nylons just to kind of create an illusion of longer legs. As far as accessories goes, since I'm going for a less formal look, I opt for longer and layered necklaces rather than a choker or extremely bold statement pieces for the neck area. By doing so, it also gives the illusion of a much longer upper body because it automatically draws the eyes attention vertically as opposed to horizontally.

FASHION HIGHLIGHT: AN INVESTMENT PIECE
To start off, I admit that I am indeed a very frugal person. However, as we grow older we realize that fashion is not only about the bargain items that always turn out to be the "disposable" kind, but also about the investment pieces that takes time....well, to purchase. So, what would be considered an "investment piece," you might ask? well, stuff like premium denim...something that could be used and worn forever (unless you lose or gain weight...well, now that's another topic that we can save for another post) Another things also include designer brand items whether it'd be a handbag or footwear or even that really expensive little black dress that you never seem to find an occasion to wear but dying to do so anyway. But with kidding aside, I think investment pieces are these material items that we could seriously use over and over again. Needless of time, the "piece" will stay in good condition and then you'll be able to say that it was definitely worth the investment.

FASHION FOCUS: JEWEL TONE DRESSES
Jewel tone dresses are great classics for any major holiday event without making you look tacky or too overdone. At the same time, these colors gives you just the right amount of pop alongside with some elegance and class.
Now, with this particular wrap dress, I paired it with some shine black tights, a braided belt to singe the waist to give the fabric some shape and a pair of Jeffrey Campbell Spiked Litas to give the overall look a little bit of edge. Also, since it's a wrap dress, there's bound to be lots of cleavage showing, so to avoid that from happening, I used a safety pin and pinned the garment from the inside according to how much neck/ chest I want to show. Then, I added a nice chunky necklace with mixed metals and textures to  complete the look.
Overall, I really love this dress for it's color and versatility. I can even see wearing this dress in the spring and other seasons, paired with other accessories, of course. The only downside to it is that since it's made of a silk fabric, I wish it had some kind of lining to it because the garment without a lining makes the dress look very sheer. Nonetheless, I can still see myself wearing this dress multiple times this year.

Summer in Peach Chiffon

Hey loves,
I'm so sorry that I haven't been able to update this blog as often as I would like to. It's been such a crazy month lately. Aside from being busy with family-oriented stuff, I've also been sick & suffered from hives & a fever for an entire week =/ It was so horrible! Anyways, I'm back on my feet and ready to blog once again :)

So, here's an OOTD from a couple of weeks ago.

FASHION FOCUS: PASTEL & CHIFFON
So whenever we think of pastel or chiffon we automatically think of Spring right? Well, it's not just Spring where we can wear these items at the same time. This summer, pastels and chiffon can be worn as well.
As the weather gets hotter, we want something that's light weight and definitely not something dark, as we all know, the darker the color is, the "hotter" we feel. And no, not the good kind of "hot" either ;)

Anyways, LOVE carries a whole site of chiffon tops & dresses that are perfect for all seasons. This peach sleeveless dress was an amazing addition to my closet full of dresses, as it carries that vintage-feminine feel that I absolutely long for when it comes to dresses. This vintage-femmy dress cuts a little above the knee making it modest enough to be worn at church on Sundays. It has subtle pleating on the neck & waist area. The dress also has an elastic band on the waist to accentuate that certain part of the body more. It also includes the skinny waist belt to singe the waist and to add a little bit of something to this plain dress.

The only downside to the type of fabric is that it isn't wrinkle resistant which may bring you a tad bit of a problem, if you just toss your dresses around. Nonetheless, I'm definitely loving chiffon and pastels this season.

OOTD ft. LOVE & FOTD

[click pictures to enlarge]
lighting is really bad, so I look extremely tanned.

100% POLYESTER, (LINING 100% POLYESTER). LENGTH: 127 CM (BUST TO HEMLINE), (AVERAGE LENGTH). MACHINE WASHABLE.

I absolutely love this dress! It's my first ever maxi dress & at first I was quite hesitant with maxi's because I also thought they would make me look even shorter. I always thought that most maxi dresses looked a bit weird, no offense. But, this one is really really cute! I love the halter top and elastic waist bands. This is a definite LOVE for me ;)

FOTD:

FTC: The dress was sent to me by LOVE of http://inlovewithfashion.com for review purposes only. I am not affiliated with the company nor am I getting paid for this review. Everything in this post is a 100% my own honest opinion.
