How to accessorize for the season

DO IT BOLD & BRIGHT

This summer, it's all about the statement pieces! It's all about stacking beautiful bright pieces of arm candy and accessorizing according to your mood.

Now, if you're the type of person who likes to dress in a more subtle way, you can definitely try to spice up your look by adding a couple or even a few brighter pieces of jewelry, that way, it not only brightens up your entire look, but in a less obnoxious way, you can still rock the "neon" without looking like you're over doing it.

This summer, just have fun! bend and break "fashion rules" and don't take fashion so seriously! And, just remember, it's not what you wear that makes you, you. It's how you wear it that makes it stand out. So, when you want to try something new, just go for it and get your feet wet, but make sure you rock it with confidence.

FASHION FOCUS: MIDI LENGTH
In fashion, we have heard of such terms like mini and maxi, but what exactly is a midi length? The midi length is not entirely short to be called mini nor is it too long to be considered a maxi. The midi comes to the calf, which covers the knees and thighs. And even at a certain point in time, this particular length was considered the most "proper" or most "acceptable" for the women in the society and even became a fashion statement. However, midi is not a particularly flattering length for most body types which is why it might have not gotten as much attention as the two other lengths. Midi does not entirely have that "sexy" appeal, but when styled right, I'm sure you can bring the "midi sexy" back.

In today's outfit, I'm wearing a midi length dress by Lucca Couture c/o Shoppalu.com. This dress features an elastic waist which you can either pull up or pull down to determine your length of choice. It also has a thin adjustable spaghetti straps that are convenient for modestly purposes. It also has a black lining since the main material is pretty sheer.

I chose an open toed chunky heel to give the look a more bohemian, earthy-esque feel but at the same time, breaking the dress up with a thick gold chainmail belt and accessorizing with lots of gold and silver bracelets and rings. By doing so, the look is then modernized! ~ However, if you're feeling a little bit more on the casual, strolling on the beach type, you can definitely opt those heels with some nice sandals or even espadrille/ cork wedges and of course, make sure you lessen your accessories, carry a huge beach tote/ beach bag, a huge floppy sun hat and you're all beach'd out!

So, how will you style this midi dress?

FASHION FOCUS: PLEATS
Pleats on skirts not only add texture but it also exudes femininity into the garment and the entire look. So, with my limelight skirt that I got from TUSC boutique, I decided to pair it with a darker floral sheer top along with some nude wedges to create longer and slimmer legs. I also over accessorized as always, so there's really nothing new to that.
This look can be worn at almost any casual occasion and if you want to wear a bright pleated skirt such as the one that I'm wearing to a more formal event, all you have to do is change the top and shoes and you're definitely good to go.
To me, having at least one pleated skirt regardless of its color, length or material used will complete your Spring and Summer seasons.

FASHION FOCUS: ACID WASH/ OMBRE DENIM
I've been seeing a lot of acid wash/ ombre on a variety of denim tops, bottoms and outerwear, so I decided to get crafty and do my own DIY. This whole ombre/ acid wash denim trend has been retro'd several times already and I must say, it never gets old. I really love how a piece like this could make an outfit become a stand out just by giving the look an extra "ummph" to it. It gives the look just the right amount of edge that it needs and a vest like this could be paired with practically everything. -- denim on denim, with various leggings, solid and with print, a skirt or even a dress. So, if you want a piece that could dress an outfit down or make it more casual, fun and edgy, this DIY is definitely something you might want to look into.

STYLE QUESTION OF THE DAY:
What would you wear with an acid wash/ ombre denim vest & how would you style it?
